SEVILLE MARATHON 21 FEBRUARY 2027

On 21 February 2027 will be held the Zurich Maraton Sevilla, better known as the Seville Marathon.
Travelmarathon began organising this event back in 2010, which is why our experience with this event is well and truly established.
THE HISTORY OF THE SEVILLE MARATHON
The Seville Marathon was born in 1987 and, as with all races, the number of entrants was initially limited to a few hundred runners.
Today around 17.000 runners took part in the previous edition, and it ranks among the fastest courses in all of Europe.
Not by chance the race has been awarded the prestigious Gold Label by the IAAF.

21 FEBRUARY 2027 the Seville Marathon will take place.
The Race Bib Fees are confirmed, subject to early sell-out:
- The Race Bib Fee is 125 Euro ( including registration with the Real Federación Española de Atletismo RFEA);
Travelmarathon is an International Travel Partner (ITP) and race bibs are guaranteed and can only be supplied together with hotel accommodation and the assistance of our Tour Operator.
THE MARATHON COURSE
The Marathon start is scheduled for 08:30 A.M. (first wave). Further waves may follow.
Start/Finish at the Paseo de las Delicias;
The course, a spectacular circuit, is the flattest in Europe and therefore inevitably fast. Certified by the Real Federacion Española de Atletismo
and by the Association of International Marathon and Distance Races (AIMS).
The course passes the city's most important and evocative monuments such as the Plaza de Espana, the Torre del Oro and the Giralda.
Time limit 6 h 00'.
Race records: men's 2h 04' 46' set by Mekuant Ayenew (Ethiopia), women's 2h 23' 14'' set by Juliet Chekweda (Uganda).

Seville is the capital and largest city of Andalusia, but above all it is the soul of the Region and the embodiment of the famous Andalusian way of life. The inhabitants of the elegant golden city intensely live out the traditional Spanish passions: tapas, wine, beer, bullfights, flamenco, nightlife and fiestas.
The atmosphere in Seville is magical every evening: people are cheerful and relaxed, love having fun and spending the night in the city's many venues: tapas bars, restaurants, pubs and clubs.
Set on the banks of the Guadalquivir river, Seville has a rich Moorish architectural heritage including the Giralda minaret, with numerous buildings declared World Heritage Sites by Unesco, and districts with a deeply traditional flavour such as Triana and La Macarena. Its architectural heritage includes the Casa de Pilatos, the Torre del Oro, the Alcázar Palace, the City Hall, the Archive of the Indies, the Museum of Fine Arts, convents, parish churches and palaces.
Museums and art centres, theme parks, nightspots, taverns and much more await you in Seville.
FLAMENCO
Flamenco and the Sevillana, a similar dance typical of the city, are two of the Andalusians' greatest passions, and Seville, besides being home to some of the most prestigious dance schools, also hosts the Flamenco Biennial.
Flamenco is an incredibly emotional style of dance, where sharp movements and facial expressions play a fundamental role and reflect the deepest feelings the dancers are experiencing. The dancer may clap hands, stamp and kick, play the castanets or move suddenly, always with grace and great precision, to convey a particular emotion.

PLAZA DE ESPANA
Next to the Prado de San Sebastián gardens and within Maria Luisa park lies the immense Plaza de España, one of Seville's most beautiful attractions, built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition to a design by Aníbal González.
This complex covers 50 thousand square metres, the size of 5 football pitches, and comprises the oval square, a semicircular brick building in Renaissance-Neoclassical style with 2 towers, and a 515-metre canal crossed by 4 bridges representing the four ancient kingdoms of Spain: Castile, Aragon, Navarre and Leon.
The complex, also known as the Venice of Seville, is decorated with polychrome ceramic tiles, a fountain, a baroque portico on the ground floor and a balustrade with balconies on the first floor, the central one being particularly impressive. Along the entire perimeter of the square there are also 48 alcoves with benches representing each of the Spanish provinces.
Plaza de España was also the setting for the second episode of George Lucas's Star Wars saga, Attack of the Clones.
