On 3 October 2027 the Oysho Cardiff Half Marathon will take place. Travelmarathon is an International Travel Partner (ITP), and race bibs are guaranteed and can only be supplied together with the hotel accommodation and assistance of our Tour Operator.

THE HISTORY OF THE CARDIFF HALF MARATHON

The Cardiff Half Marathon was born in 2003 with just 1,500 runners taking part in its first edition. It soon grew ever bigger and more important on the international stage, hosting the World Half Marathon Championships in 2016 and the Commonwealth Half Marathon Championships in 2018.

Today the event has grown to over 27,000 participants, and the race is part of the well-known circuit of the Super Half.

THE HALF MARATHON COURSE

Its flat, fast course passes through the city's most breathtaking scenery and most iconic landmarks, including Cardiff Castle, the Principality Stadium, the Civic Centre and beautiful Cardiff Bay.

Thousands of spectators turn out to cheer on the runners in a city renowned for its passion for sport. Cardiff is a lively capital offering unique attractions, world-class sports stadiums, vibrant entertainment, waterfront restaurants and seemingly endless parks.

The Cardiff Half Marathon Expo is located at City Hall Lawns and is open on the following days:

- Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00.

Cardiff is the capital of Wales, known for its world-famous rugby. In and around Cardiff there are over 600 castles and a whole host of myths and legends to discover.
 

The city is packed with things to see and do. Explore 2,000 years of history at Cardiff Castle or taste local produce at Cardiff Central Market. Get a taste of adventure and head out of the city along the Cambrian Way to discover 185 miles (almost 300 km) of national parks, fairytale castles and snow-capped peaks. With a lively arts and food scene and independent shops in abundance, Cardiff is your gateway to everything that is wonderful about Wales.

The city is fairly compact and the best things to do are close to the centre. There is no shortage of quirks and curiosities, all well worth discovering. 

Places to visit:

Cardiff Castle:

it already existed at the time of the Roman occupation of Britain and has been constantly extended and developed ever since. This makes it an eclectic concentration of history. The Norman keep stands on top of a small hill, surrounded by extraordinary defensive walls that were used as air-raid shelters during the Second World War. There is a Georgian-style mansion in one corner and a museum of the Welsh army regiments in another. It is an extremely convenient and fascinating place to explore, located just north of the city centre. A guide app is also available for Android and iOS. The Clock Tower is particularly noteworthy, although guided tours are only organised at weekends. The Animal Wall along Castle Street is also worth a photo.

Cardiff Story Museum:

is one of the most engaging city museums in the UK. The roughly 3,000 objects and artefacts in its collection are presented in a fun, interactive way. This free museum offers a highly original and fascinating insight into the Welsh capital, which grew from a small market town into one of the busiest ports in the UK before becoming the eclectic destination you see today. This magnificent historic building, close to the Central Market, also has luggage lockers, very handy for backpackers.

For the Cardiff Half Marathon,  Travelmarathon has selected only the best Hotels, always striving to obtain excellent prices for its athletes and their companions. 

HOTEL xxx - 
The half marathon start line is just a 5-minute walk from your hotel.

The Hotel is located in an elegant area right in the centre of Cardiff, near the Motorpoint Arena. 

The rooms are  spacious and equipped with a safe, air conditioning, soundproofing, complimentary toiletries, a private bathroom with bath or shower, telephone, satellite channels, flat-screen TV and minibar.

All fees are per person, based on double room accommodation.

PLEASE NOTE: due to growing demand, the Deposit Fee (Flight Ticket) may increase slightly as the departure date approaches. 

Each participant pays a Participation Fee

from Fri. 1 to Mon. 5 October;

from Sat. 2 to Tue. 6 October.

The Participation Fee consists of:

1- Deposit Fee;

2- Race Bib Fee, for those who request it;

3- Balance Fee.

1- The Deposit Fee varies  depending on air fares.  We therefore recommend requesting a quote for your flight.  Alternatively, you can purchase your flight on your own.

2- The Race Bib Fee:

- Half Marathon:  145 Euro.

3- The Balance Fee is  per person in a double/twin room:

- xxx Euro (4 days/3 nights) at the Hotel**** Park inn;

- xxx Euro (4 days/3 nights) at the Hotel**** Redisson Blu.

An optional extra night costs:

- 99 Euro at the Hotel **** Sup. 

The Balance Fee is paid  from 120 to 70  days before departure. The latter is refundable in case of cancellation (see our General Terms and Conditions).  

Families/Children:

Solo Travellers: 
Travelmarathon also thinks of you: if you wish to share a room with another runner, we will do our best to make it happen.
If you prefer a double room for single use from the outset, the single room supplement is 64 Euro per day.

The package price  includes:

Return flight with a small carry-on bag measuring 40 cm x 25 cm x 20 cm;

Accommodation at Hotel *** ... (3, 4 or 5 nights);

Travelmarathon assistance at the Hotel (a tour leader is available 24h);

Travelmarathon Staff presence from Pisa Airport (for Thursday and Friday departures). In any case, all our  Hotels are easily reachable by public transport or inexpensive taxis;

Accompaniment to the race and to the expo;

The package price does not include:

The Cancel insurance, equal to approximately 7.5% of the entire package;

Extra 20 kg baggage (approx. 20 Euro per leg  - OPTIONAL);

Booking Fee (10.90 Euro – over 12 years of age);

Optional souvenir Gadget (Polo shirt/Sweatshirt, indicative price 17/19 Euro – OPTIONAL);

Meals and drinks;

Tickets for all transfers (bus/taxi), visits and excursions;

Tips and anything not expressly listed as included;

Walking Tour with an Italian-speaking guide. Indicative price: 19 Euro per person.

Bookings

Registration: send the Registration Form + Race Bib Form (runner only).

Deposit Fee payment: (per person) + Race Bib Fee, if requested.

Balance Fee: 120 days before departure.

Registration closes: when the maximum number of participants is reached.
