For this reason it continues to be chosen by runners looking for a course that will allow them to improve their personal best.

The Lisbon Marathon course
The start will be from the town of Cascais at 08:00. The transfer service from your Hotels to the start is included.
The course runs for one stretch along the beautiful Atlantic coastline, then joins the banks of the Tagus river before covering the final kilometres through Lisbon's historic old town, so you can cross the line with your arms raised at Praça do Comércio.
General Information about the Lisbon Half Marathon.
The 2019 Lisbon Half Marathon, also known as the EDP Maratona de Lisboa Half Marathon, will start from the Vasco de Gama Bridge, one of the city's new landmarks.
- Date: Sunday 11/10/2025;
- Start: 10:30;
- Time limit: 3 h;

The bridge connects Montijo and Sacavém, two lovely towns within the Lisbon area, close to the Parque das Nações. The name Vasco de Gama was chosen as a tribute to the great Portuguese explorer.
The finish of the Half Marathon is the same as the Marathon's, at the striking and splendid Praça do Comércio.

- Finish: Praça do Comércio.
- Race Bib Fee 30 Euro.

The Lisbon Marathon, with the city's melancholic charm, its intense nightlife and its character - popular yet proud and indomitable at the same time - makes Lisbon one of the most evocative and best-loved European capitals.
Lisbon is a beautiful city, full of charm. Don't miss neighbourhoods such as Alfama and the São Jorge Castle.
THE NEIGHBOURHOODS
The ancient, picturesque Moorish quarter of Alfama lies behind the São Jorge Castle. The area never ceases to amaze with its views.
Strolling through the narrow, winding alleys of Alfama, you can get in touch with the truest, most authentic soul of Lisbon.
The ancient Moorish quarter, dating back to the 11th century, spreads out behind the São Jorge Castle, descending to the Tagus, and is a colourful, picturesque working-class district.
There are no particular sights to see here, but discovering its most hidden corners, the characteristic little squares where kids play football, and the little local shops frequented by residents will give you a truly unique experience.
At lunchtime you may come across housewives grilling sardines right outside their front doors!
The Barrio Alto is without doubt the first Lisbon neighbourhood that comes to mind when talking about nightlife in the Lusitanian capital. Its narrow streets are lined with an uninterrupted row of venues attracting a diverse clientele, mostly young people aged 20 to 35. Here, alongside deeply traditional spots such as Tasca Do Chico (a tavern with hugely popular fado shows), you will find fashionable cocktail bars, metal pubs and disco bars: there really is something for everyone. Almost all of them are tiny, bordering on claustrophobic, yet they manage to pack in an incredible number of thirsty visitors. There is no point coming here before eleven at night, as you would find the venues still deserted, while from midnight onwards the bars and streets overflow with people.
Tram 28, in Portuguese Eléctrico 28, could easily belong in a fairy tale, such is its magic! A ride up and down Lisbon on tram 28 is definitely one of the things to add to your to-do list if you want to visit the old part of the city in a truly Portuguese way. In Lisbon, the tram is not just a simple means of transport, but a true icon closely tied to the culture of the Portuguese capital. Lisbon's first tram entered service in 1873, and in the early years of the twentieth century the first electric tramway began operating, reaching its greatest extent in 1959.
NIGHTLIFE IN LISBON
Versatile and eclectic, vibrant and energetic, Lisbon's nightlife starts after 11 pm and ends when it is already morning, with options for every taste. Fashionable wine bars, traditional little venues with a lively convivial atmosphere, chill-out terraces and exclusive lounge bars, nightclubs and trendy clubs open until morning, open-air live music events: in Lisbon there is no shortage of opportunities to end one day and start a new one in the name of fun.
Don't be misled by the Portuguese people's strong attachment to tradition: Lisbon is a young, energetic city and, since the 1990s, it has powerfully reclaimed its role as a cutting-edge European capital, establishing itself on the continent as one of the "must" destinations for entertainment.
Lisbon's nightlife has nothing to envy that of other European capitals: it is versatile and eclectic, it starts late and ends when the sun is already high, with a diversity of options for all ages, all budgets and all musical tastes.
