In 2025 the New York Marathon was the most-attended race in the world, with 59,226 runners crossing the finish line. The TCS New York Marathon is today regarded as the marathon everyone dreams of running.

The Race Bib Fee, subject to early sell-out, is   45 Euro.

THE MARATHON COURSE

The marathon is run over the distance of 42.195 kilometres, crossing the main streets and avenues of the 5 boroughs of New York (Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island and Manhattan).

At the 21st km the race crosses the Pulaski Bridge, which marks the end of the first half of the race and the entry into the borough of Queens. After about 4 km the athletes cross the East River over the feared Queensboro Bridge leading into Manhattan. This is the most critical point of the race, where many athletes start to feel the fatigue, and crossing this bridge is considered one of the toughest sections of this marathon. The route then continues along Central Park South, where thousands of spectators gather to cheer the athletes over the final mile.

Time limit: 22:00.

Start line from 08:00 (start of the professional men's wheelchair division) until 11:30 (start of Wave 5).

New York is the main financial and cultural centre and the best-known city in the United States. Better known as New York City  to distinguish it from New York State, of which it is part. The capital of New York State, however, is Albany.

Foto new york

New York is today the world's leading centre for finance, fashion, research and technology, often described as the capital of the world.

New York City sits on one of the largest natural harbours in the world. The city is made up of five boroughs:
- Manhattan;
- Bronx;
- Brooklyn;
- Queens;
- Staten Island.
New York's origins are Dutch: the city was founded by Dutch settlers in 1624 under the name of New Amsterdam (1626). The area was later taken by the English (1664) and renamed New York in honour of the Duke of York, brother of King Charles II of England.

New York was briefly the capital, from 1785 to 1790, and has been the largest city in the United States ever since. A diverse and culturally rich city.
The city of New York offers an incredible variety of activities; many world-famous museums and monuments welcome more than 50 million visitors every year.

Here are the places that simply must be visited:

Times Square, one of the most famous squares in New York City. Times Square has often been chosen as a set for theatre productions and films, and today it is a tourist area buzzing with activity. It is the only area of the city where the billboards are especially large and bright. The area is also full of shops, hotels and restaurants.

The Empire State Building is probably the most famous skyscraper in the city of New York and perhaps in the world. Standing 381 metres tall (443 m including the television antenna on its top), it was the tallest skyscraper in the world until 1973.
P5

The Statue of Liberty, nicknamed Lady Liberty, is an enormous statue (93 m from the ground to the tip of the torch and 46 m from the pedestal surface to the tip of the torch) rising at the harbour entrance of the Hudson River from Liberty Island in New York City, as an ideal welcome to all those arriving in the USA. The statue was donated by France to the United States to celebrate the centenary of Independence and was in fact inaugurated in 1886. In 1924 it became a national monument together with the island on which it stands.
P3

The Brooklyn Bridge, completed in 1883, is the first bridge ever built in steel and was for a long time the largest suspension bridge in the world. It connects the island of Manhattan with the borough of Brooklyn. The construction of the bridge began in 1867 and required the labour of 600 workers.

P1

Central Park is a vast park in the borough of Manhattan. It is one of the best-known city parks in the world, thanks also to its appearances in numerous films and TV series. Inside there are several artificial lakes, extensive paths, two skating rinks, children's playgrounds and lawns used for many sports. The park is an oasis for migratory birds and is therefore popular with birdwatchers. The 9.7 km road that surrounds the park is popular with cyclists, joggers and roller skaters, especially at weekends when cars are banned. Among the other events hosted by the park is the finish line of the New York Marathon.

If you are travelling to the United States for the New York Marathon, you can take advantage of the Visa Waiver Program, i.e. visa-free travel.

To use the program you must:

- be travelling for business or tourism;

- stay in the United States no longer than 90 days;

- hold a return ticket.

To travel under the Visa Waiver Program you must apply for an electronic travel authorisation, (https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov) before boarding your means of transport, by air or sea, bound for the United States. The ESTA is issued online by the US authorities, upon payment of a fee (of about $ 20), which can also be paid online.

A mandatory requirement for obtaining the ESTA is an electronic passport, i.e. a passport with a microchip embedded in the front cover.

If even one of the requirements listed for the Visa Waiver Program is missing, you must apply for a visa.

N.B. Since 1 April 2016 the only passports valid for travel to the USA under the Visa Waiver Program are electronic ones. They have a 9-character number, made up of 2 letters and 7 digits (the first ones issued belong to the AA series)

Since 25 May 2010 the electronic passport has also contained fingerprints in the microchip, but for travel under the Visa Waiver Program an electronic passport without fingerprints is also fine, provided it has not expired and is valid until your return.

Minors must hold an individual passport to benefit from the Visa Waiver Program.

Please note: failure to leave the U.S.A. within 90 days will compromise your ability to use the Visa Waiver Program again.

Since 30 September 2025 the cost of the ESTA  has increased from 21 to 40 dollars. This amount can be paid by credit card, debit card or PayPal and includes a processing fee and a contribution to the federal budget.
