The Valencia Half Marathon, the fastest race in the world!

Record del mondo mezza di Valencia

The Valencia Half Marathon on 25 October 2026, also known as the Medio Maraton Trinidad Alfornso, is without doubt an extremely fast race; indeed, in the previous edition, Kenya's Kibiwott Knadie flew to a 57'30'' finish, thus setting the World Record over the distance.

The Valencia Half Marathon has been awarded a major recognition that very few races manage to obtain, the Road Race Gold Label, which is why the Valencian race is considered one of the most important sporting events in the world.

The new Valencia Half Marathon course ....

Percorso Mezza Maratona

Race bibs available at 100 Euro (including the Spanish Federation Licence).

The course is one of a kind: you will get to run both through the heart of the city, the "ciutat vella", and through the striking setting of the City of Arts and Sciences, where the genius of Calatrava has created an "enchanted city". Then, in the finale, a slight downhill will let you accelerate and close out your race in great style.

Valencia is a beautiful city of around 800 thousand inhabitants, the third largest in Spain, equidistant from Madrid and Barcelona, both 350 km away. Founded by the Romans in 138 BC, a crossroads between Catalan and Andalusian culture, Valencia is one of the most important cities of the Mediterranean, as witnessed by its historic centre, which preserves many monuments built over its 2,000 years of history. Wide avenues of palm trees and ficus embrace the old quarter, with its Gothic residences and elegant patios. The port district, entirely renovated for the 2007 America's Cup, has given the city back its outlet to the sea. Valencia is also a Gothic city, as shown by the two Serranos towers, built in the 14th century, part of what remains of the medieval walls, or the Plaza de la Virgen just behind the imposing cathedral; but there is also a modern Valencia, projected towards the future, with new and creative architecture, hosting international sporting events such as the recent America's Cup or the annual Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Valencia is famous throughout the culinary world for its renowned Paella. Imagine a place where rice grows, where animals are raised and fish is caught, where every kind of fresh vegetable is grown on plots large and small, fertile and lush.
It is with all these ingredients that the cuisine expressing this land is forged.

Valencia also has plenty to offer at night, with an intense nightlife and lots of fun for every taste. Right behind the cathedral, in the Calle de los Caballeros, strolling tourists are invited from aperitif time onwards to try the famous Agua de Valencia, which is actually a cocktail made of orange juice, Cointreau, Vodka and Cava, the local sparkling wine.

It is then easy to stay out late, between a restaurant, a beer and then dancing into the night in one of the many trendy or characterful venues. Valencia also challenges Madrid and Barcelona for the title of queen of nightlife, or movida. The areas most packed with bars, pubs and clubs are Cánovas, the Barrio del Carmen and the Ciutat Universitaria, in particular along Avenida de Blasco Ibáñez and in the streets surrounding Plaza de Xuquer.

Mezza maratona di valencia la città

But summing up the soul of Valencia with the stereotype "movida, sun and paella" would be unfair. The pleasure-loving Valencia coexists with the cultured Valencia, which is proud of its past (the historic heart dates back to the 15th century, when it was the largest settlement in Christian Europe) but looks ahead without fear. The Spanish newspapers speak of an explosión valenciana. The economy works better than elsewhere and in recent years the city has been struck by a surge of energy and creativity that has profoundly transformed it.

But the work that has contributed most to Valencia's revival is the Ciudad de las Artes y la Ciencias, designed by the Architect Santiago Calatrava, the city's most illustrious son, who back in 1995 had already built, on the dried-up bed of the Turia river, one of the most elegant bridges in Europe and a metro station that looks like a work of art. The Ciudad is visited by thousands of people every day.
